Ladies Getaway to Baden & Vienna for Christmas!

This year I will be travelling to Austria for Christmas and invite you to join me.

Our Itinerary:

Dec 18 - depart TORONTO on Austrian Airlines, non-stop to Vienna

Dec 19 - upon arrival we will be met and transferred to our hotel, Scloss Weikersdorf Weikersdorf where we will spend 3 nights in the lovely town, Baden. The rest of the day is just for settling into our hotel/spa and to take a walk around the town. In the early evening we have a Welcome reception and dinner included.

Baden is located just 25 kms from Vienna, surrounded by the Vienna Woods and vineyards. Although originally developed as a thermal retreat by the Romans, it continued to flourish through the ages. It is recorded in 869 as the seat of a Frankish imperial palace. Through the Golden Age it enjoyed popularity as a cultural and spa destination by the aristocracy of the 19th century. The town was ravaged by fire in 1812, then extensively rebuilt in the “Biedermeier” style. This style refers to work in the fields of literature, music, the visual arts and interior design during the period between 1815 and 1848. This style corresponds with the Regency style in England and the Empire style in France.

Dec 20 - This is a day to relax and enjoy the spa. We have full access of the Spa's 1000 metre facilities so this is a day to relax and rejuvenate. We have included a 100.00 Euro Spa voucher to be used toward treatments.

Dec 21 - Another day to relax, enjoy the thermal pool and explore Baden

Dec 22 - After breakfast today we will transfer into Vienna. We check into the Johann Strauss Hotel for a 6 night stay.

Dec 23 - Whether you have been to Vienna before or not there are so many things to do in this wonderful city. Over breakfast we can coordinate who wants to join me with some sightseeing and who wants to explore on their own. Shopping aside there are tons of options, the galleries, the Hoffburg Palace, Royal Apartments, The Spanish Riding School. We'll have to leave time for hot chocolate in one of Vienna's many coffee houses. In any case we will arrange to meet for dinner.

Dec 24 - It is becoming a tradition with our groups, that on Christmas Eve we all scour the city for festive and wonderful treats to bring along for our Christmas Day brunch get together. It's great to get caught up in the last minute flourish to search out and discover the Viennese favourites in pastries, meats, cheeses, sweets etc.

Dec 25 - Our breakfast will be served as usual this morning but we will have our own festive accoutrements to make it extra special and fun. The big activity today is Christmas Dinner. In the early evening we will be picked up at the hotel to be taken to Schonbrunn Palace for Christmas Dinner and a concert. Schonbrunn Palace was the summer residence of the Hapbsburg royalty and I can't wait to see it decked out, and to be a part of the celebration with you all. What shall we wear hmm… - red, gold… this is an opportunity to go all out - It's Europe. It's Vienna, and we are dining at the PALACE !

Dec 26 - After breakfast this morning we depart the hotel for a full day guided tour of Salzburg. (You may want to brush up on “The Sound of Music” again). In any case this is a great chance to get out into the countryside and visit this lovely icon of an Austrian city.

Dec 27 - After breakfast this morning we will be taken to the Hoffburg for a special treat. The Sunday morning service will feature The Vienna Boys Choir in the Imperial Chapel of the Hoffburg. The rest of the day is free to pack or, if you would like, and make arrangements early enough there is a performance scheduled of the Lipizzan Stallions - Please inquire early about this if you are interested.

Dec 28 - After an early breakfast we are off to the airport for our 11:20am flight departure non-stop to Toronto
